I could have sworn that one of the main reasons I originally ordered this item was because it had simple, natural ingredients(sugar, chocolate, cream...) but this one has maltitol as a sweetener which is a sugar alcohol. If I knew that I would've shopped elsewhere or made something similar at home. I recommend the seller(and sweetstreet.com) update their posts/sites with ingredient info. Many are sensitive to sugar alcohols as maltitol does not exist in nature. There is no maltitol plant. It's designed in a lab and therefore does not belong in the body. From wikipedia:Effects on digestionLike other sugar alcohols (with the possible exception of erythritol), maltitol has a laxative effect,[6] typically causing diarrhea at a daily consumption above about 90 g.[7] Doses of about 40 g may cause mild borborygmus and flatulence.[8]Government warningsIn the European Union[9] and countries such as Australia, Canada, Norway, Mexico and New Zealand, maltitol carries a mandatory warning such as "Excessive consumption may have a laxative effect." In the United States, it is a generally recognized as safe (GRAS) substance, with a recommendation of a warning about its laxative potential when consumed at levels above 100 grams per day.
